A dental hygienist or a dental health coordinator gives an age-appropriate presentation on the importance of maintaining good oral hygiene. Advice regarding diet/nutrition is provided, as well as a discussion of habits that may impact dental health.
If a school has a preference for larger-scale educational seminars, a school-wide assembly can be given. A broader, more general overview of oral health upkeep is provided to all students, alongside supplemental material including handouts and visual aids.
Dentists R us has attended numerous health fairs in many different schools, setting up a table and distributing information regarding the importance of dental hygiene. This is usually done simultaneously with our cleaning procedures and preventative services, promoting awareness of dental health issues. By informing students and families about what we're doing at their school, we are able to create a more comfortable environment and remove any fears or misconceptions about dentistry.
Dentists R Us can hold meetings with both parents and teachers (PTO/PTA) and speak about topics including followups, referrals, and our services. Questions about payments and insurances, including Medicaid and private dental coverage, are all addressed at this informational meeting.
Chairside education is Dentists R Us's individualized approach to informing students about proper care of their teeth. A personal discussion between the hygienist/dentist and the student is held, encompassing issues like diet and nutrition, personal habits, brushing techniques, and many other oral health topics. Any unique questions are also answered at this time.
